How can you find out why my bids were not made, and the status is "Bidding restrictions on your account". There are no reasons I can see that my bid shouldn't have been accepted. No one else bid, seller and myself live in the same country and postage was added to winning price. This is the second time I've tried and both times failed.

Seems like a restriction based on a specific UK policy.
I believe UK users can complete the verification and get it approved. Until you do it, your bids (not just snipes) will be blocked by eBay for the same reason.
I don't have UK account, but I guess if you check the link above, you should be able to do the verification steps. I think it's just to verify you are over certain age or something similar.

Thanks for that. Annoyingly I have been age verified by ebay already. I'll check it out.

Once verified, make sure to test by placing a minimum bid directly on eBay.
If you can't bid manually on eBay, your snipe will not work too.

It's the same reason as above in the topic. Were you able to check and complete the verification as required by eBay and still can't bid even directly on eBay?

That's weird. The first thing I did after getting through the frustration phase was to bid on a random auction, which went without a hitch. So that might be something specific to API-driven bids. I'll follow the link though and maybe it helps. Thanks!

I think eBay UK has no pre-bidding age verification process, so I suspect it's just not possible to use myibidder when buying "restricted items" (a bladed hedge trimmer in my case, LOL), which I'll take a note of. Thanks again.

The restriction on a certain category. You can't pick a random listing to check. You have to take the same category as it applies there only.

You may want to reach out to eBay asking how to verify your account to be able to bid.

I contacted eBay’s tech team, and they’ll investigate and email me back. They confirmed there’s no special age verification procedure for bidding, but age is verified at checkout by using a credit card.

I also bid successfully on a restricted item, so I believe there’s an issue with third-party bidding on restricted items. I wonder if it’s because I don’t have a credit card on file with eBay. I’ll update you soon.
